have you been hit with the karmic boomerang lately? if it doesn't feel like it has come your way in a while, it's probably because it's your turn to pay it forward & send some good energy out there for others.
no need to think about your next karmic move - it's already been decided - attend the mandala in motion event on thursday, june 17th! all proceeds go to the non-prof, the art in all of us & to the kids in its programs that teach other kids through their own art about tolerance & awareness of a spectrum of cultures.
the forever-giving folks at boomerang yoga will be hosting this yogic evening at a swank gallery in the heart of soho. festivities include a sacred strength yoga flow class with stephanie culen, a gong meditation by hari kaur, & some very special performances.
in addition to the delicious nibbles during the event, the karmic forces will already begin returning the favor for your attendance with a stellar goodie bag & the chance to win many substantial raffle prizes, like a 6-month membership to yogaworks, a pair of nikes & even a golden ticket to betty surfcamp in ecuador! (remember to bring some extra cash for these.)
mandala in action yoga benefit challenge to support art in all of us thursday, june 17th 6pm-9pm william bennett gallery (65 greene street)
the yogadeal: for a minimium donation of $108 (just create your own fundraising site, it's super quick, plus your friends & fam can help support your admission ticket!) you'll not only leave with that warm & fuzzy feeling of supporting the arts & children, but you'll also be pretty blissed out from the jam-packed agenda... just make sure you save up enough energy to lug home all of your goodies.
on wednesday mornings, at seattle's supercool superfood nutritition bar, healeo, karen teaches 'morning yo!' consider it the yogi's morning jolt; a 35-minute, non-mat asana of pranayama breathing & standing poses (only) followed by a deliciously nutritious liquid breakfast.
the yoga deal: for early birds only.... arrive at 7:15am on wednesdays at healeo & for just $12 you can enjoy karen's 'hump day smoothie class' along with [yes, you guessed it] a superfood smoothie/drink/tea from healeo's menu.
also we wanted to give a special 'THANK YOU, YOU'RE AWESOME' to phyzzyoga for donating to the boomerang yoga fundraiser for bent on learning (btw, there is still time to donate if you are able)!

it's not what you think, especially if you know yogadeals - i am ALL about the bargain, but i am also about giving back & getting lil ones [read: children] into yoga. last week, i was thrilled to hear from @boomerangyoga (via twitter) about their upcoming event!
boomerangyoga is a non-profit org or rather a fundraising community that seeks the yoga [read: union] of on-the-mat asana & the social awareness of children's education, creativity & health. on september 20th - put it in your blackberry or other electronic calendar right now - stephanie culen, the founder & executive director, will be hosting a sun salute-a-thon to benefit bent on learning. (to read more about the amazing bent on learning program, peruse my list of 'happy places' on the right.)
ideally boomerangyoga is looking to raise at least $500 per mat for the participating volunteers for 3 hours of yoga sun salutations. personally, this is a waaaay more enticing fundraising method than one of those 5k runs (ok, maybe i'm slightly biased...).
if you're thinking 3 hours? 3 hours is a lot of yoga! don't worry, you can share your mat with 2 more people for up to 3 yogis a mat (so that's only 1 hour, now you can breathe again).
the simple steps to get started are listed www.boomerangyoga.com or if you rather have a surrogate yogini on the mat for you, please donate your latte or chai allowance today to the yogadeals mat!!! yes, you can bet i'll be there.
as a yogi of about 6 years, i am constantly striving toward yogic bliss, but at the same time looking how to explore new options without having to break the bank doing it. i realize each time i talk to a friend, co-worker or random stranger i have suggestions about yoga, healthy living, etc. so i thought it was only natural to start posting my findings so i can share with more people!
i am also an insured and registered yoga teacher (ryt 200) in core strength vinyasa yoga & have completed a 72-hour course in musculo-skeletal anatomy & kinesiology (for yoga teachers). i have experience teaching adults, as well as elementary school and middle school students.
